Terms & Conditions for hiring a car from Rac SA rent a car
The license of the driver of the leased vehicle must be issued at least one year prior to the rental date. The driver must either hold a valid driving license issued by an EU country or an international driving license holder. The International Driving Licence must be accompanied by the country’s driving license of the driver of the car.
For ATV Groups F1, F2 it is required driving licence for a car category B. For Moto Groups D1, D2, D3 it is required driving licence for a motorcycle 125 cc or higher category Α1, Α2, Α.
Renter’s QualificationBe over 23 years of age for groups A, B, C, D, F, K, L, G, and J * The renters aged between 21-22 will be subject to Young Drivers Surcharge by paying the amount of 10,00€ + VAT daily Be over 30 years of age for groups T1 & T2
A prerequisite for completing the rental of the vehicle is that the tenant holds his original driving license. In case of non-possession of the necessary documents the company has the right to book a rental day on prepaid bookings or advance payment respectively.
PaymentTThe renter pays in advance the cost of the rental. RAC S.A. accepts cash, Visa and MasterCard credit/debit cards. Any other cards rather than the above will not be accepted. Rates that are shown on our website apply only for online bookings.
Minimum rentalOne day (24 hours). At the end of the rental a further period of 29 minutes is allowed free of charge. After the 29 minute grace period expires, the renter will be charged for another full day.
Delivery Costs(Applicable to the prefecture of Attica) Deliveries of leased cars made after consultation with the bureau and the RAC within city limits costs € 15 plus VAT, this charge applies for rentals less than 3 days. The delivery service is free of charge for rentals longer than three days from Monday to Friday 9:00 – 17:00. Customers can also be transferred to the office free of charge.
Contract interruptionIn the case of contract interruption there is no money refund.

Gasoline PolicyThe Renter is obliged to return the vehicle with the same amount of fuel as it had when collected. In the case of returning the vehicle with less fuel, the renter will be charged with the fuel difference. No refunds are issued for vehicles returned with more fuel when collected.
Car cabinIn case the renter returns the vehicle and it’s cabin has stains which require a special cleaning procedure (ie animal hair, sand etc on car seats or car floor or port baggage etc.), he will have to pay the amount of 80,00€.
Traffic ViolationsThe fines and other consequences incurred wholly and exclusively to the tenant, who is obliged to pay the respective services.
Ring in the center of AthensIn the center of Athens operates the “Ring” where vehicles with odd traffic circulating the odd days of the month (eg 1, 3, 5, … 31) and vehicles with even numbers of traffic moving even days of the month (e.g. 2, 4, 6, … 30). Excluding cars rented by foreign visitors and permanent residents of Greeks abroad for the first forty (40) day stay in Greece. It should, however, each client is provided with a lease car that will prove that the car is rented and it is in Greece less than 40 days.
Policy on off-road drivingRAC S.A. vehicles are to be operated only on asphalt roads. Off road driving is only allowed with four wheel drive vehicles – groups G, G1, J, T, Τ1 – on certain dirt roads indicated by our staff. In the case of towing a vehicle which is not included in the above categories due to driving on a dirt road, the charge is €150.
Car TypesBookings are subject to a specific car group, which includes several different car models with similar features. You can ask for a specific model during the pick-up, whether it is available.
Ferrying the carVehicles may not be loaded on ferries without written application / consent from RAC S.A.
Across the borders rentalThe rented vehicle from RAC S.A. may not be driven outside national borders.
Extra ChargesSnow Chains € 4 per day, with a maximum charge of 10 days. Should refer to the booking. Child Seats €5 per day, with maximum charge of 10 days. Should refer to the booking. GPS – Navigation System €5 per day, with a maximum charge of 10 days, GPS for tenants’ use are available upon request during booking from our office. Out of working hours information If the renter wants to pick-up or drop-off a car during out of office hours, he must request this at the time of reservation. The charge for out of hour’s service is €15 excluding VAT. Additional driver Additional driver is free of charge.
RAC Insurance and Liability AmountsThird Party What does it cover? Insurance covers death and injury of others, including the occupants in the vehicle RAC (except the driver of the car RAC) and damage to property of others, up to the amount specified by law and related decrees as minimum. What is not covered? Total or partial theft of the car. Theft of personal property situated on or within the vehicle of RAC S.A. Death or injury of the driver. Damage to the vehicle’s RAC. Cost Included in the price CDW Known as: CDW or LDW in Australia and the U.S. What does it cover? In case that the vehicle damage RAC, the renter is covered for the cost of repair. Nevertheless, it must pay the amount of liability for damage, which is: – €400 for the group A – €600 for the groups B, C, D – €800 for the groups F, G, K, L – €1000 for the group J What does “excess liability” mean? In case of accident or theft of the leased car, you must pay an amount of money (called “excess liability”). The liability amount is paid by the renter, regardless of fault. The amount of responsibility includes repair costs, loss of use and storage What is not covered? Damage caused by intent or negligence Damage caused by using the wrong fuel Damages arising from a breach of the contract terms Damage caused to the bottom, the roof, the antenna, mirrors and tires of the car or during which the RAC car was in a boat Cost € 8 per day for groups A, B, C, D € 10 per day for the groups F € 15 per day for the groups G, K, L, J (VAT included)
Personal Security Known as: PAI What does it cover?The renter in case of accident to the amount of € 50.000 for death, total or partial disability and up to the amount of € 2.000 for medical expenses. What is not covered? Does not cover the renter for non-traffic accidents or accidents that occurred before the start or after the end of the tenancy. Cost € 5 per day for all groups The maximum charge for personal safety are 14 days per contract (provided that the rent does not exceed 31 days). On each rental car of RAC, only the driver is insured. If other drivers are going to drive the leased car they must be present at the start of the rental and carry their driving license. IN CASE OF ACCIDENT THE CUSTOMER IS REQUIRED REGARDLESS OF FAULT TO COMPLETE THE ACCIDENT DECLARATION UNDER K70 ARTICLE OF GREEK LAW.
Cancellation PolicyIn case of a cancellation of a reservation made through internet, during the period of 7 plus days before the rental starting date and if the customer has prepaid the full amount, RAC S.A. has the right to return 50% of the total amount paid. Cancellations made 6 days prior to the rental date, the company does not refund any amount to the customer
.Αlso if the customer has made a reservation and has just given a deposit and canceled the reservation regardless of the time it will cancel it then nothing is returned.
No ShowIn case the renter fails to collect the vehicle on the rental start date and time without any written or telephone conversation, RAC S.A. will cancel the reservation after 3 hours. RAC reserves the right to charge the renter a one day rental of the car group reserved.
Modify a ReservationChanges on reservations cannot be done during the period of 7 days before the rental starting date.
